#UNFINISHED

What’s more appropriate than #UNFINISHED appearing on “The Knitting & Stitching Show”? A magnificent and colorful textile installation made of abandoned knitting, #UNFINISHED will inspire you to think differently about your failed projects. What if shedding light on our failures could inspire new thoughts and ideas instead of shame?

Sisse Fog Odgaard collected more than 2,000 pieces of unfinished knitting. Knitwear that had been deemed too boring, too ugly or difficult, or simply just been left behind for more exiting projects. Sisse cut the many pieces of knit, zig-zagged them onto a base of discarded parachutes and covered the joints with a total of 2.5 km i-Cord. This time-consuming process resulted in an impressive work; Six large life rafts lined with #UNFINISHED knit fabric. With this colorful installation, Sisse hopes to inspire visitors to let go of preconceived ideas of perfection and to dare to speak openly of the things we are not so proud of.
Sisse who originally trained as a dressmaker at The Royal Danish Theater in the recent years turned her attention towards creating large textile artworks that feed the thought.
